Wheel and Cog Children’s Museum is the only year-round, indoor play space and hands-on learning center within a 70-mile radius of Hutchinson, Minnesota!
With our goal to inspire and educate the public through play, we provide engaging, interactive STEAM learning and imaginative play through hands-on exhibits. While some exhibits are ongoing, others rotate out to offer an entirely new play experience for families when they return.
Open since 2016, Wheel and Cog has become a mainstay local activity for its nearly 600 members, and a destination for nearly 20,000 people within the last year; families looking for unique play experiences and willing to travel to Hutchinson for a day of play.
Wheel and Cog is a non-profit 501 c3 that offers a safe place for all ages to explore.

Our Mission
- To strengthen and inspire local communities to support basic education and literacy, and reduce gender disparity in education through interactive and imaginative play.
- To enhance economic and community development through partnership opportunities to help strengthen local entrepreneurs and future community leaders, in impoverished communities.
Our Vision
- To be a connecting center for families, schools, and community artists, cultural leaders, performers. This will provide our community with an affordable resource to help young children do their best in school, realize their talents and interests in the arts and sciences, and build self-confidence and social skills needed in life. This will also provide families with a center for quality time together, where adults can learn about their children’s skills and interests with them.
