Our staff and volunteers are as eager as you are to get back to playtime! We’ve been working hard to create a safe space and time for our youngest Wheel and Cog enthusiasts to enjoy some much needed time playing, moving, learning, and interacting with the world around them.
We are excited to share our news with you, that we hope you’ll find some options that help you and your family engage with the museum in ways that work best for your health and safety needs.
- We want to let all members know that we have extended ALL current memberships until 12/31/20. That means that even if your membership is due, it will be extended until the end of the year.
- Members can now take advantage of a NEW perk: Literacy bags. These can be checked out from the museum for one week. Literacy Bags will be available for pick up each week on Tuesdays from 5-6. Returns will be done at the same time.
- Members can pick up Take Home Kits to do special activities and projects from the convenience of your home. Take home kits will be available for pick up every Tuesday from 5-6.
New Reservation Playtime Starts August 4th
Get ready to organize your own private play sessions at the Museum starting August 4th. Individuals, families, and groups who’ve been anxiously waiting for a fun way to gather, play, or celebrate a birthday these past few months can organize a two hour block of time to have the entire museum to yourself and up to 25 family members or friends (up to 25 kids and 40 people maximum). The cost is $125 for 2 hours for members, and $150 for non-members. You decide if and how to split the cost among yourselves. Families who haven’t been able to vacation or host a birthday celebration until now can enjoy some much needed time out of the house, in a safe, clean environment. You decide who you want to share your reserved time with. We’ll be ready to welcome you.
We do anticipate our calendar to fill up with reservations quite quickly, based on the feedback we’ve received. The process will be to fill out a simple form on our website letting us know the two-hour time block you’d like to reserve. Please request a date that gives us at least a week’s notice ahead of time. There is no payment due until your reservation is confirmed. We will check previous reservations, staff, and museum availability and get back to you. If we confirm your reservation, we’ll email you with a date and time, along with a link to pay online.
If you have questions we can answer for you, please email [email protected] We hope you’ll understand the how hard we’re trying to make elements of the museum available to you and ask for your continued understanding and support during this historic time.
